Family Friends – Vice Chair - Windsor

Our society faces many challenges and uncertainties, particularly in the times we now live in. In the face of these, there is constant debate about what we can do for ourselves, each other, and what should be done for us - all of which are combined with a huge desire to be secure and safe. Amidst all this change and turbulence one thing has remained constant. The family is the most secure place to gain strength, survive and prosper. The support from those around us is our greatest potential source of security and happiness.
Twenty years ago a simple desire to do something practical to help strengthen families in our local community has now become Family Friends, a highly motivated team of 10 staff, ten trustees and 40 volunteers, delivering that simple vision across a wide range of ways. Whether it is through specialist support, providing an environment for families to learn about each other and how to thrive, or through volunteers providing simple practical support, we are a charity that has a clear shared vision in being there to support and help children and families.
Our Board of Trustees is now looking to take this secure and strong belief and working with our CEO and her team, develop it into the future. We are seeking to match what we do with where we will be needed the most – and where we can have the most effect. We want to develop the ways we get our income and know how we are using it. We want to give strong support to our professional staff to allow them to deliver this mission. We want our reputation to grow even more. We want to do this and at the same time be true to our strong ethos that has evolved over the years.
We are looking for a Vice Chair to join us who will be committed to what we do – and provide the skills and experience that we know we need. We are looking for people to challenge us, be part of reshaping us, and become part of a new and strengthened team to allow our wonderful people to do the work that we are so proud of.
The successful candidate will have:
- Either Charity Finance and Governance experience
- Or current or very recent experience of families/children’s services/providing early help support
- And a strong, relevant sector network, and the willingness to use this for the benefit of Family Friends
