Based in Central London, Montessori St Nicholas Charity (MSN) seeks to promote and provide exemplary Montessori education by means of training teachers, providing information, advice and support to schools, managing its own schools, and undertaking charitable projects to inform and sustain the Montessori community in the UK.

Who we need

We are looking for someone with a minimum of 4 – 5 years' experience in Marketing and Public Relation, who is able to build and maintain strong professional relationships and internal stakeholders. 

You will work closely with the management team in marketing courses and communicating key messages to defined target audiences to establish and maintain goodwill and understanding between MSN and its public audience. We need someone who can show a creative and innovative approach in a constantly changing environment, who is proactive and a team player. Experience of being the spokesperson for national media and to be able to optimise public relations as a credible marketing tool will be desirable.  A degree in the preferred disciplines of Public Relations, Marketing or  Media Studies is essential.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, strong confident presentation skills, able to manage a varied workload, working with others and autonomously. The ability to demonstrate initiative and attention to detail are essential requirements.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities


  • Increase student numbers on all College courses
  • Increase course revenue with a focused priority on our UK market and new customer acquisition
  • Improve brand recognition and visibility for charity and a clearer understanding of its work and vision
  • Co-ordinate marketing operations to promote courses to a clearly defined target audience:
  • Parents
  • Professionals
  • Youth
  • Prioritise attendance at events where the target market is relevant
  • Schedule relevant advertising activity
  • Communications
  • Development of a database to facilitate research and analysis
  • Manage the website to enhance visitors experience


  • Optimise PR as a free and credible marketing tool
  • Explore more PR opportunities to promote courses to new target audiences
  • Public Relations

  • Administration



  • Plan, develop and implement agreed Marketing strategies
  • Prepare and supervise the production of publicity brochures, hand-outs, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes
  • Plan, monitor and progress campaign's for courses
  • Organise and attend events (often with other colleagues), exhibitions and open days
  • Foster community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives
  • Source and manage sponsorship opportunities
  • Give presentations occasionally on the work of MSN
  • Compile marketing strategies on student recruitment to MCI for discussion with SMT

Public Relations and Events

  • Plan, develop and implement agreed PR strategies
  • Liaise with, and answer enquiries from, media, individuals and other organisations, often via telephone and email
  • Research, write and distribute press releases to targeted media
  • Write articles for our external magazine
  • Organise and attend press conferences and press tours
  • Devise and coordinate photo opportunities
  • Manage the PR aspects of a potential crisis situation for MSN
  • Research and Analysis

  • Collate and analyse media coverage
  • Undertake market research, especially stakeholder needs analyses


  • Liaise with colleagues and key spokespeople to devise and prepare stories about all aspects of MSN’s work
  • Write and edit case studies, speeches, articles and annual Marketing and PR reports

Social Media and Website

  • Maintain and update information on the organisation's website
  • Manage and update information and engage with users on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook


  • Provide back-up to the role of Receptionist including handling incoming telephone calls, if required
  • Assist with any other administrative tasks as required including minutes
  • Work on specific projects as and when required

Professional Development

  • Working towards membership, or increased membership of CIPR
  • Attending networking events
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of industry developments in marketing and PR/media best practice

Required Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour



  • Marketing and PR experience in similar organisations or charities
  • First class written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Office
  • Strong, confident presentation skills

  • Creativity in ideas and practice

  • Previous charity or educational practical experience
  • Brand management


  • A degree in the preferred disciplines of English, Public Relations, Media Studies and/or Marketing.


  • Relevant work experience gained within Marketing, PR, Events Promotion and Social Media
