As the UK’s national academy for engineering, we bring together the most successful and talented engineers for a shared purpose: to advance and promote excellence in engineering.
We provide analysis and policy support to promote the UK’s role as a great place to do business, we take a lead on engineering education and we invest in the UK’s world-class research base to underpin innovation. Improving public awareness and understanding of engineering is fundamental to our work.

We are a national academy with a global outlook and we use our strong partnerships to help the UK to benefit from international networks, expertise and investment.

Policy Director, Royal Academy of Engineering
London, UK
£100k plus benefits

Policy is at the heart of everything we do and is our voice in the wider community. At a time of political change and economic uncertainty, our policy role is crucial in helping to shape the future of the UK.

We now intend to bring about a step change in our policy impact through the creation of an Engineering Policy Centre.  Working closely with the wider engineering community, the Centre will be the voice of the profession on matters of strategic importance and will transform our impact on national, regional and devolved policymaking - for the benefit of society.  As a national academy with a global reach, the Policy Centre will have international impact.

This presents a tremendous opportunity for the right person who will lead and shape this transformation.  You will need a strong record of strategic management and policy leadership, with experience of working at senior level in public policy.  You will be visible, passionate, dynamic and creative, and you will galvanise leaders of the engineering community to enable change and progress.

The postholder will report to the chief executive and will be functionally responsible to the Trustee Board and relevant Academy operating committees.
