Media Manager - Wildlife Charity
Our client is seeking an experienced and confident Media Manager to lead their busy press and publishing team. Key tasks include planning and executing a proactive and extensive programme of media activity, and managing production of a portfolio of award-winning publications.

Salary: £40,239 - £42,428 (Inclusive of London Weighting)

Our client, a charity founded in 1826, is a world-renowned centre of excellence for conservation science and applied conservation. Their mission is to promote and achieve the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. This is realised by carrying out field conservation and research in over 50 countries across the globe and through education and awareness-raising at their two zoos, inspiring people to take conservation action.
You will understand the current media landscape, be calm and controlled in a crisis, and be able to ensure that our client is in the best position to make the most of every opportunity to promote its brand and its cause.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional time and people-management skills, and be able to plan and keep track of multiple projects while constantly scanning the horizon for opportunities and threats. You will be comfortable engaging with staff at every level, have a bulging contacts book and plenty of experience dealing directly with journalists. Most of all you will have a can-do attitude and be passionate about PR, with a keen understanding of how it can benefit an organisation like our client - and the skills to make it happen.
- High calibre individual with a proven track record in PR and Media Relations.
- Current or previous staff management experience.
- A strong track record in producing a programme of high-impact media relations as well as exemplary people management skills.
- Be able to demonstrate an ability to spot and shape a potential story
- Understanding, authority and experience to work at the highest editorial level, including an impressive portfolio of contacts.
- Independently driven and can take the initiative; with strong administrative skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are a prerequisite for the job.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills are a prerequisite for the job.
Most of all you will have a can-do attitude and be passionate about communications, with a keen understanding of how it can benefit an organisation like our client - and have the skills to make it happen.
Please note: This is a full-time, 12 months maternity cover contract were the successful candidate working hours are a basic 37.5 hours; however the nature of the job will require occasional evening and weekend work. Management of the shared 24/7 press contact mobile with the team is also important. This post will also be based at our client's London Office but may also require working away from the main office, either at their site near Dunstable or be required to carry out visits to external conferences.
