To provide executive management to Age UK Salford’s social enterprise activities and to seek out, explore and develop income development, fundraising and social enterprise opportunities working with managers and supervisors to execute and critically analyse performance in each service

You will plan and implement strategies for improved footfall and sales income across all services and report on service income and expenditure recommending and implementing opportunities to reduce costs and increase income to support the service and charity objectives whilst working with the Executive Manager Care to achieve consistency and a standardised approach to charging

Lead and manage the delivery of agreed priority projects, monitoring these in line with agreed timescales, reviewing the learning and reporting to the Senior Management Team on the value and difference such projects have made

To maximise business opportunities and income generation both via Age UK Salford’s existing customers and through engagement with new customers, colleagues and partners in the city and to positively represent and further the work of Age UK Salford

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • To supervise, coach, develop and motivate each of the Service Managers and Team Leads, to manage their resources and model expected attitudes and behaviours in order to achieve the aims and objectives of Age UK Salford
  • Work within the organisational Quality Assurance  Framework and any other Statutory Regulatory  Framework which may apply and abide by and ensure the implementation of Health and Safety policies
  • Guide Service Leads and the Volunteer Coordinator in developing new and optimising volunteering roles across the Social Enterprise services to ensure that equal opportunities are made widely available and valued
  • Establish a system to regularly share, highlight, promote and publicise achievements and celebrate the positive impact and outcomes Age UK Salford delivers to increase the understanding of the role of the charity to raise awareness and maintain momentum and motivation
  • To review existing practices and implement improvements to ensure effective systems are in place, followed and regularly evaluated for all aspects of these services
  • Together with the Marketing and Communications Manager develop and manage the social media strategy and activity in order to promote Age UK Salford’s Trading and Social Enterprise Products and Services
  • Attend  and manage the regular meetings of Service Managers to maintain the formal communication link between Senior and Service Managers to ensure policy and procedural matters, development opportunities, campaigns and agreed projects are implemented and their progress reported back to the Senior Management Team

Critchley House

  • To supervise and support the Centre Manager in order to achieve the aims and objectives of Age UK Salford to provide a safe, welcoming and comfortable  Community Cafe and  Social Centre for older people  
  • Together with the Centre Manager develop a strategy to source and implement appropriate funding  opportunities,  increase sales and provide learning and development opportunities for older people in Salford
  • To ensure that the services offered at Critchley House are actively and effectively promoted across the City and together with the Marketing and Communications Manager lead on development of the role out of promotions and agreed marketing strategies and that a Marketing Activity Plan is implemented and monitored  
  • To actively seek out income generation, business development and fundraising opportunities and to make appropriate applications to grant making trusts and funding bodies
  • To undertake any other appropriate duties required to assist the centre manager to achieve performance targets and  realise the full potential of the centre

Trading Activity

  • To manage the activities of the Trading Company ensuring all staff are compliant within the terms of the Trading Alliance Agreement and FSA regulations, and to promote Age UK Enterprise products and services in a way that reflects the values of the organisation and maximises the income earned for the charity
  • To ensure that relevant systems are implemented and maintained and that performance against budget is monitored and to lead the team meet financial targets as set by the Assistant Chief Executive and Age UK Enterprises
  • To provide regular reports and accurate financial records as requested by the Assistant Chief Executive and Board of Trustees and to critically analyse and evaluate Trading performance

Front of House

  • To ensure the provision of a high standard of customer service, administrative, and reception services and assist in the provision and implementation of certain Front of House and Central functions e.g. telephony and IT functions.
  • To evaluate staff roles in the context of multiple priorities and derive a strategy to maximise resources and efficiency
  • To advise on opportunities for improvements and efficiencies in monitoring and evaluation of front line enquiries and customer contacts and to ensure collation and completion of appropriate statistics

Cleaning and Shopping

  • To oversee monthly service reports and help ensure the Cleaning and Shopping   service  meets financial, staffing, client and customer satisfaction targets
  • To work with the Cleaning and Shopping Coordinator to actively promote the service by developing opportunities to increase sales and raise awareness of this service
  • Assist the Cleaning Coordinator to prepare and deliver marketing strategies for the  Cleaning service and review these plans periodically

Income Generation and Fundraising

  • To market (in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications Manager) income generation and fundraising opportunities to increase awareness of our products and services and to generate independent income via donors, the media, social media and other means.
