12 Month Fixed Term Contract

£39,099 - £40,282pa

Central London

If you are an experienced policy analyst with excellent knowledge of women’s rights and are looking for a fresh challenge, this role as Policy Advisor, may be the role for you.

We support people living in poverty to claim their rights, by directly challenging the systems and structures that keep people poor and by supporting Action Aid programmes with resources and capacity.

We want you to work collaboratively with ActionAid International colleagues and help provide research and analysis to influence public policy and opinion formers as well as develop alternatives to mainstream development policies.

Focusing on women’s rights, you will undertake policy analysis, research and advocacy and produce recommendations for changes in the policy and practice of UK government, international institutions and other relevant targets.

You will be involved in shaping and implementing advocacy strategies, and in contributing to the strategic development of campaigns on women’s rights issues.

Concentrating on digital channels, you will also build our influence through writing in the media, social networks and expert groups as well as by public speaking.

Your experience of working on policy analysis and research will have given you an understanding of the issues concerning women’s rights in developing countries, along with an understanding of the economic and political forces shaping relationships between the northern and southern hemispheres.

A skilled lobbyist, you know how to build productive relationships with politicians, academics and NGO leaders. A good communicator and presenter you know how to use social media in a professional context and can translate complex material and data into clear and concise lobbying and campaigning briefings and materials.
