Simon on the Streets – Registered Charity 1165317

General Manager (Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield)

Closing Date: 5pm on Friday, 21 October

Lead a charity that helps where others can’t or won’t As one of the most influential organisations in West Yorkshire for people leading solitary or harmful lives, Simon On The Streets offers unconditional support to those who are rough sleeping or at risk of doing so.

A rising profile and growth in service demand has made them one of the most forward thinking and proactive charities in the sector. They are currently looking for an experienced leader to take the organisation through the next phase of its journey, as it continues to make a positive impact on the lives of hundreds of people who are either excluded from or unable to access other existing support services.

They are looking to recruit a commercially astute and inspiring leader who shares a passion for sustainable positive change to create Simon on the Streets strategy and to effectively execute the plan behind it. This requires an individual who has experience of working within an organisation at executive or management level and who has been at the heart of the strategic development in a complex stakeholder context. Candidates invited for an interview will be asked to demonstrate their critical thinking and decision-making skills.

The role has responsibility for ensuring effective operational management as well as leading fundraising and events to enable predictable and sustainable income generation. It calls for a track record of delivering outstanding operational results to be supported by an entrepreneurial and values driven approach. As the face of the organisation it is crucial you can inspire audiences to partner with our organisation.

The successful candidate will have experience of team leadership at a senior level as well as an understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility and the opportunity for a forward thinking charity to position itself within this. In addition there needs to be a sound commercial understanding of business and the approach needed for identifying and developing strategic partnerships and alliances. Knowledge of safeguarding of vulnerable adults, staff and volunteers, an understanding of the complex issues which lead to homelessness and rough sleeping, and direct experience working in the third sector are all desirable qualities.

If you are a professional, creative thinking, self starter with high levels of motivation and excellent networking, negotiation, and public speaking skills then this is a unique opportunity to join a forward thinking and innovative charity that supports people to find hope and to achieve more. Some evening and weekend availability may be required.
