Regional Support Official - South 

A great opportunity to provide regional support role for a major trade union. 

Our client is the largest trade union and professional association for lecturers, learning support staff, academic related staff, trainers, researchers and managers working in further and higher education in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Their 120,000 members are employed mainly in colleges of further education, universities, colleges of higher education, and in adult, prison and land-based education. 

Position: Regional Support Official 
Location: Southsea 
Salary: £45,291 per annum

About the role: 

They are looking for a Regional Support Official, based in their Southsea office* who will cover the Southern region. 

The Regional Support Official’s primary role is to contribute to ensuring the effective implementation of the Regional Plan in the designated area, deputising for the Regional Official as necessary. 

The Regional Support Official provides advice and support to local branches, including training, advising and representing members on employment issues. You will also assist in ensuring the consistent implementation of our client’s bargaining, campaigning and organising objectives. 

*Whilst the Regional Support Official – South will initially be based in Southsea, the location of the office is currently subject to review so future relocation within the region is a possibility. 

About you: 

You will need knowledge of the post-compulsory education sector; knowledge of bargaining with employers and experience of trade union organising and representing individuals in disciplinary and grievance cases, etc. With good interpersonal, negotiating and advocacy skills, you will also be committed to equality and diversity issues and able and willing to travel within the region.
