Head of Hospitality Services
Whiteley Village, a registered charity managed by The Whiteley Homes Trust, near Walton on Thames set in 225 acres of beautiful Surrey woodland. The Village contains 262 almshouses, a care home and extra care apartments for 500 older people of limited means.
The Village is about to enter an exciting new phase of investment and development to ensure its future for the next 100 years. Their vision is to be one of the best places to age in Britain.
Reporting to the Director of Community Services, the Head of Hospitality will be responsible for working closely across the village with other departments, to provide holistic support to Villagers e.g. Health & Care Services, Housing & Support, Facilities & Estates, Quality & Performance, Finance etc. This will ensure an integrated and joined up network of services to all those that need it where-ever they live or work in the Village. The Head of the department will be pivotal to the success of integration through collaboration with others but also through exceptional leadership of a range of direct reports in different service areas.
The role has an eclectic mix of accountabilities that require an exceptional general manager to fulfil as the role underpins many of the critical support areas to ensure the team deliver outstanding services.
Working in harmony with the leadership and management team, the role will bring together the functions of:
- Events, Marketing and Communications
- Catering Services (provided through sub-contracting)
- Security & Caretaking
- Help in the Home Services
- Resident Transport
- Leisure Services (Licensed premises / Café Bistro / Therapy Pool/ Village Hall)
The post holder will be a highly skilled and experienced manager in at least one of the service areas, with demonstrable transferable skills to achieve success through leading others in the remaining job areas. This would suit someone who is really looking to make their mark and be at the forefront of providing integrated services to enable older people to take control of their lives.
With highly tuned communication skills and the ability to negotiate good results, the Head of Hospitality Services will create a collaborative management team that supports the Trust to be at the forefront of modern ambitious services that define a new edge to the ageing population that will be watched by others.
You will need to be a self starter who can bring innovative ideas and translate them in to effective practice. You will be a natural leader with a proven background as a general manager, with professional high standards.
You will need a relevant qualification at Level 5 and above in one of the service areas relevant to the role.
