Find out what it takes to work at the NSPCC

We talk to Chris Jarrett, Head of corporate Partnerships at the NSPCC about his role and what qualities he looks for when he is recruiting fundraisers and managers

You have been leading the NSPCC Corporate Partnerships team for over a year now, what have the main highlights been for you so far?

It has been a year of incredibly fast paced change and test of our motivation and resilience as a team, however we have a new strategy in place. The new strategy and new team structure will help us focus our efforts on doubling our income over the next 3-5 years. This year we secured the first £1m+ donation for the NSPCC in past 5 years.
Tell me about what the transformation you are leading the NSPCC Corporate Partnerships through. What’s the aim?

As we move forward we are looking to develop completely new ways of working with our corporate partners, and there is a real clarity and precision about how we deliver growth and drive value across the NSPCC. Our approach is about longevity, innovation and quality not volume, and ultimately increase in income and benefit to both parties. We will focus on delivering and maximising income from our core partner income channels of employee fundraising, ensuring we are working closely with partners but also across the charity to drive not just income but real value to both partner and the NSPCC. At the same time we are opening up exciting new areas for funding and income generation at the NSPCC including brand licencing and commercial partnerships – exploring enhancing the value of our brand from a commercial perspective.
You are currently looking to recruit fundraisers and managers to support the transformation of the NPSCC Corporate Partnerships. What sort of people are you looking for?
First and foremost, we want people that have the passion and commitment to make a difference to the cause. However, passion alone is not enough. We want ambitious and driven individuals, who see opportunities around them and grab them. Proactive, great networkers, understanding both commercial and charity environment – able to wear both hats when needed, and finally, we are looking for people who want to play a role in a team that is going places; have the hunger to work on challenging , large partnerships. Nothing more rewarding than playing a part in a team growing income for a charity like the NSPCC.
