The Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST) currently works with 21 schools in the UK. We work in schools that serve disadvantaged and often challenging communities by providing not only funding for classical instruments, but also support in the form of regular tuition, opportunities to perform and a programme of excellence that is unrivalled in the UK. Our mission is to be at the forefront of classical music education.

MiSST is looking to appoint a Deputy Chief Executive. This is a key role, responsible and accountable to the Chief Executive Officer who is responsible for ensuring the musical outcomes for young people are better than expected. You will have had significant experience of leadership and management as a middle leader and some experience as a senior leader within the voluntary, public or business sectors. The successful candidate will also have a proven track record of demonstrable success relating to the impact of your work on those who should benefit. Lastly you will be committed to creating the optimum opportunities for large numbers of young people to learn to play a classical instrument and engage in music making at the highest level.

Contract for: Full time

Purpose: To support and deputise as required for the CEO

To work with the MiSST Executive Team to implement MiSST’s Strategic Plan to sustain and scale our work, undertaking timely reviews of provision to ensure continued high quality and positive outcomes for young people

To support the Finance Officer and agreed aspects of the charity’s finance

To be responsible for the partnership with Music Education Islington (MEI)

To work with and support an agreed group of schools

To line manage agreed members of the Senior Leadership Team

To ensure trips, events and residentials are well planned and effective with outcomes recorded

To take responsibility for agreed aspects of the day to day work of the charity
