Here at British Heart Foundation we’re driven in our fight for every heartbeat.  We fund thousands of scientists carrying out more than half the UK’s cardiovascular research and our work has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are helping to change the face of the UK's fight against heart disease.

Our vision is a world where people don't die prematurely from heart disease and we have an ambitious plan to increase the amount of life-saving heart research we fund.

Role summary

The Head of Fundraising Compliance will ensure all our fundraising, supporter engagement, marketing and communications activities and materials are compliant with all relevant legislative, regulatory and audit requirements. This includes those set by the Charity Commission, the Fundraising Regulator, Fundraising Preference Service, Information Commissioner, Committees of Advertising Practice, Direct Marketing Association, HMRC, the Gambling Commission, and PhonePayPlus.

This new role will have responsibility for leading, developing and embedding a Risk and Compliance framework and culture across our Fundraising Directorate, as well as collaborating closely with other compliance roles across the wider BHF. A key element of this will be a responsibility for overseeing the delivery of an inspiring and robust training programme to our third party fundraisers.

In addition we need a proactive risk planning and compliance culture across our Fundraising Directorate and its agency partners that not only adhere to legal requirements but also influence stakeholders, reflecting the values of the BHF too.

About you

The successful applicant will have excellent broad knowledge of relevant rules and regulations i.e. ICO, DPA, Fundraising Code of Practice and knowledge of audit management techniques.  You’ll also have good knowledge of fundraising and customer operational practices that enable you to identify the implications or consequences of a situation or proposal.  You'll have a can-do attitude and strong organisational skills and will build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

We’re brave, informed, driven and compassionate in our fight against heart disease and, if that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
