The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the nation's heart charity with a mission to lead the fight for every heartbeat through pioneering cardiovascular research. We fund thousands of scientists carrying out more than half the UK's cardiovascular research and our work has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are helping to change the face of the UK's fight against heart disease.

We're recruiting for a Development Manager to join our growing Philanthropy team to manage key relationships with high net worth individuals with the capacity to give £10,000+ to help in our fight for every heartbeat. You will also work alongside senior volunteers and BHF leaders to cultivate and steward these relationships further.

The Philanthropy Team sits within the newly formed Philanthropy and Partnerships team and has ambitious targets to support our pioneering research. As well as working with the BHF Fundraising Board, the team also manages the Miles Frost Fund at BHF and works closely with the Corporate Partnerships team to maximise opportunities. The team has enjoyed increasing success over the past few years and, with a new Head of Philanthropy in place, is poised to grow further.

As a professional Major Gifts fundraiser with a proven track record in securing five and six figure gifts from high net worth individuals, you will have excellent communication skills and be able to influence and negotiate with key contacts.

With strong organisational and administrative skills you will be able to manage a demanding workload effectively and have empathy and understanding of the BHF cause and our key objectives.

Please note this is a maternity cover contract for 6 months
