YMCA Black Country is a group of YMCA charitable companies operating in the Black Country and South Staffordshire area, delivering a wide range of community services, including accommodation, support & advice, family work, health & well-being, training and education. In all our diverse services, our mission is to develop people, so that they can belong, contribute and thrive!

Our vision describes where we are heading and what we are becoming:

“YMCA Black Country Group is part of an inclusive Christian Movement, transforming communities, so that all young people can truly belong, contribute and thrive”

Our new Strategic Plan; Connected Communities: 2020-25 focuses on developing integrated programme delivery from our expanding network of YMCA Hubs, Community Branches, and in partnership with local organisations.

The Chief Operating Officer (Programmes) is a new role for the charity which was created following the departure of one of our long-standing Chief Officers, when we took time to evaluate our Chief Officer structure and have remodelled this in light of the Charity’s new strategic direction. Our new COO (Programmes) will lead the expansion of programme delivery; work will be delivered from our Community Branches, and from partner organisation premises. Reporting directly to our Chief Executive and working in close partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, wider colleagues and the young people we support, we are now seeking an exceptional individual who can lead on the further development and expansion of these programmes.

Key requirements for the post holder include:

·      Senior management experience of developing and leading complex programmes / projects in either education/health /youth/community sectors

·      Successful business management; overseeing income, controlling expenditure, delivering quality service & customer satisfaction.

·      Strategic thinker with the ability to identify new opportunities and new forms of delivery.

·      Strong analytical, problem solving, project management and programme development skills

·      Relevant professional training, teaching or youth/community development qualification at Level 4/5 (or equivalent)

·      Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with CEO, Board, staff, volunteers, service users and stakeholders

·      Successful business management; overseeing income, controlling expenditure, delivering quality service & customer satisfaction.

·      Personal commitment to the Christian faith, and to practical expression of that faith in a professional context. (An Occupational Requirement in accordance with the Equalities Act 2010)

·      Fully committed to the Christian ethos of the YMCA Black Country Group as described in the Ethos Statement, and able to promote and live out that ethos appropriately and wholeheartedly.

If you feel passionate about enabling young people to belong, contribute and thrive, have the entrepreneurial skills to create new initiatives, and are inspired by faith-based community transformation, then we would be welcome your application.
