Job Details

Prospectus is delighted to be working with The London Community Foundation in their search for an Interim Senior Programme Manager on a fixed term contract until the end of August 2019 (5 months).

The London Community Foundation is the charity for London's grassroots. They specialise in supporting community-based organisations focused on helping disadvantaged Londoners, including those affected by child poverty, unemployment, isolation, homelessness, domestic violence and gang crime. They are an independent charity and one of over 1500 Community Foundations worldwide, and a member of the network of 46 Community Foundations in the UK.

This important role is perfect for someone looking for a chance to use their skills to maximise their personal and social impact. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a portfolio of grant programmes which support community-based groups across London to achieve social impact. LCF plays a crucial role bringing together community-based organisations and donors, made up of a mixture of corporate partners, individual philanthropists, statutory bodies, and other trusts and foundations. This brings a complexity that requires a sharp mind, great attention to detail, and flexibility in approach. This person will understand key issues affecting London and will use this knowledge to raise awareness about how community organisations are making a difference. This role will entail relationship building, grant operations, collaboration and maintaining clear lines of communication. Gathering intelligence in specific thematic areas and working closely with donors to enable the retention, renewal and growth of funds will be important components of this role. This person will be key to nurturing relationships with external stakeholders including donors, charities and voluntary groups to widen understanding and to further the work of LCF. This person will also be responsible for managing a small team, so previous experience of this will be important.

A thorough understanding of the social sector is key, and a grant making background would be useful but not essential; what's more important is that you can demonstrate a commitment to LCF's values and have the skills and attitude to have an impact in the role. You will be willing and able to learn quickly, and thrive in a complex business environment. This person will have had experience of managing multiple projects and/or contracts, cultivating external relationships, adapting to diverse audiences, and synthesizing complex information whilst understanding the bigger picture. IT confident and commercially savvy, this person will have strong written skills, will be numerate, ambitious and will not be flustered by deadlines.

You will be flexible in your approach to work and able to cope with a dynamic environment in which priorities can quickly change. You will have a can-do attitude and positive outlook, but also be assertive when you think there is a better way to do something. It is an exciting time at LCF. They are busy working on modernising their operations and processes to maximise their impact for their donors and beneficiaries alike. This is an opportunity to play a vital role in that process. This role represents a superb opportunity for a proactive and talented person to be part of a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation committed to making a difference.

Interviews will take place Monday 4th March with an ideal start date of 18th March 2019
