Do you have experience of fundraising with major donors?  Would you enjoy a job with a difference? Cris Cancer is a very special £1m charity raising funds for innovative, leading edge, cancer research and treatments.  We are run mainly by committed and experienced volunteers and much of our fundraising to date has been with International communities in London including our amazing annual gala ball which this year raised over £0.5m net.  We want to work with an experienced fundraiser who can join our ‘family’ and use their expertise to take our income up to the next level.

There maybe potential to split this role, if your skills lie in either Major Donor or Events.

Job role/ additional information

Welcome to the Cris Cancer Foundation. Despite being a £1m charity we won’t be surprised if you have not come across us before. That could be because we beaver away behind the scenes, relying on the hard work of some amazingly dedicated volunteers.

We also have a sister charity in Spain and are launching a new one in France and together we aim to make a significant impact on beating cancer.

We know we can raise more in the UK simply by bringing someone on board who knows all the best techniques and ways of working to develop our existing (impressive) supporter base and events portfolio. With excellent stewardship, we want grow support across London and develop new ways to engage.

What makes this role really special is our ‘family’? The camaraderie and commitment to making a difference are second to none.

So, we are looking for someone who understands, and has excellent connections within, the broader London community and who can make an immediate impact on our existing wide base of supporters and event portfolio as well as coming up with proposals to bring in those new audiences.

You will need to have worked with major donors (and therefore understand what make good stewardship) and be able to organise, with volunteers, high profile events.  We will want you to be able to develop practical strategies to make sure we are making best use of our resources.

We are happy to offer some flexibility for the right person (for example  part time working ,compressed hours, extended leave in school holidays) as long as it fits in with the work plan.

How to apply

If you are interested in having an informal conversation about the role, please feel free to contact Valerie Morton who is working with us to recruit the right person. She is on 01767 677661 or valerie@valeriemorton.co.uk. If you are ready to apply for the role, we would like to see your CV. To help us really understand your experience we would also like you to answer the following questions in a maximum total of 500 words.

1) Which major donor event you have organised fills you with most pride and why?

2) What are the potential pitfalls in major donor stewardship (we can often learn most from our mistakes!)

We know you are busy so please DON’T spend time on any additional information in your covering letter – your CV and answers will be enough.

Please email your documents direct to Valerie by using the Apply section below.

The closing date for applications is Monday 25th February at 6pm.
