Teaching Assistant (LSA)

Our client is situated in 68 acres of beautiful Hertfordshire parkland between Harlow and Bishop’s Stortford. They support people with Epilepsy and other complex needs from the age of 5 through to 78 in their Children’s Home, School, College, Residential Home with nursing and Day Centre. Over 150 adults and children call the organisation their home making them an inspirational place to do great work.

Position: Teaching Assistant (LSA)
Location: Perry Green, Much Hadham (Commutable from Hertford, Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford and surrounding areas)
Job type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 36 hours per week Term Time Only, Monday to Friday
Salary: £13,575 to £16,437 per annum (Level 1 & 2)

About the role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen in their specialist school for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to come and join their dedicated team. They provide their students with an educational experience that not only extends their academic skills and abilities, but also promotes personal growth and helps to build self-esteem. Every day they carry out immeasurably worthwhile and rewarding work although at times can be challenging, continually enhances the lives of the young people that attend our client's school.

Your responsibilities as a Learning Support Assistant will include:

- Assisting with the development and implementation of individual education / behaviour plans & personal care programmes.
- Helping to provide a specific and targeted curriculum through various strategies both in and out of the classroom.
- Supporting pupils / students to achieve learning goals.
- Promoting independence.
- Preparing, maintaining & using resources / equipment to meet lesson plans.
- Supporting pupils / students who can display challenging behaviours and helping to manage this in a positive way.

About you:

Experience of working within a special needs environment is desirable but not essential, all they ask is that you have good literacy and numeracy skills and are able to communicate well with both children and adults. A relevant qualification is essential for the Level 2 Teaching Assistant position e.g. Level 3 SSTLiS or equivalent.
