An outstanding senior leader, you inspire everyone around you with your vision and energy. So bring your talents to the UK’s largest children’s charity – and help us transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children.

At Barnardo’s, we believe in children. Through our essential services, campaigns and research we have huge ambitions to deliver better outcomes for 25% more children by 2025. And, quite simply, we can’t do that without the tireless support of the thousands of volunteers that turn our vision into a reality. That’s why this role is so crucial, because you’ll develop and deliver an innovative strategy that increases both the contribution and diversity of our volunteers, as well as the positive impact they have for our beneficiaries.

Leading a UK-wide team and influencing thinking at the highest level, you’ll shape our entire approach to volunteering and community engagement. That will include seeking out new funding and promotional opportunities, building strong links with national volunteering bodies and managing a substantial budget. You’ll also develop the way we engage with our volunteers and ensure we have robust reporting tools.

As our champion of volunteering and community engagement, both internally and externally, your goal will be to position Barnardo’s as a charity of choice and a pioneer of best practice in the sector.

With a sound track record of strategic leadership gained in a large and geographically dispersed organisation, you’ll bring an in-depth understanding of volunteering principles and practice. In other words, you know what it takes to attract and motivate great volunteers. Your wide-ranging experience should also include creating strategies, plans and policies, managing projects and influencing key stakeholders. Excellent communication, presentation and report writing skills are equally important, plus the ability to represent Barnardo’s externally.
