Chief Executive Officer
Healthwatch Essex is seeking to appoint a creative and inspirational new Chief Executive.
We are looking for someone with the drive and enthusiasm to ensure we play a key role in helping to change the future of health and social care in Essex. An ambitious organisation, we need someone with strong leadership qualities who will help us ensure that we continue to make the organisation an effective agent of local change, reflecting the highest standards of national and international best practice.
We are an award-winning charity that gathers peoples lived experience of health and care. We believe it is important that NHS and care services put the needs of patients, carers and service-users at the centre of what they do, and we seek to influence change by evidencing what people experience when they access health and care services. In so doing, we aim to be ‘an independent voice for the people of Essex, helping to shape and improve local health and social care services’. We also provide a vital telephone- and web-based Information Service, to help people understand, access and navigate their way through the NHS and social care.
The Chief Executive is responsible to the Chair and Board of Trustees for the leadership and overall strategic direction of Healthwatch Essex, and for ensuring that it fulfils its statutory and contractual responsibilities and delivers effective outcomes for the people of Essex. The CEO also has responsibility for the overall administration of the organisation and the leadership of staff, for building meaningful and influential relationships with key local and national stakeholders, and for fulfilling the role of spokesperson on media platforms and in public and professional settings.
Among your attributes, you will have extensive experience and proven ability to strategically lead at a senior level; a track record of delivering strategies, operational plans and projects; a well-developed capacity to achieve organisational alignment and effective outcomes; excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrable ability to manage staff and build high performing teams. You will have a proven track record of managing high-level relationships with key decision makers and excellent knowledge and experience of our core activities, the health and social care landscape, charity governance, and of winning tenders/grants.
