East Africa is teetering on the edge of disaster with 20 million people facing starvation. Their only hope is the international charities who are rushing to their aid. SCIAF, the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund, are one of them.

They instantly respond to emergency appeals like this to avert a humanitarian catastrophe but SCIAF work tirelessly for 12 months of the year in 15 different countries to provide life saving, life changing programmes. They are one of Scotland’s biggest and most respected charities. To meet their ambitions and goals to do more to help the poorest and most disadvantaged communities in the world to survive and thrive, SCIAF have a new fundraising strategy to deliver between now and 2020. They are boosting their team and looking for committed, skilled and expert fundraising professionals to come on board. Your reward will be working for a prestigious charity while changing the lives of the most disadvantaged and marginalised communities in the world.

This is a newly created post within the team to support the strategy around major giving. You will take the lead role in delivering growth in this area. You will need to have significant experience in major gift fundraising with all the attributes that make someone successful in this post: knowledge of how to do prospect research, major donor cultivation and stewardship as well as an engaging personality and the ability to have conversations at a high level, not to mention ensuring all opportunities are grasped to develop relationships with corporate bodies and influential Trustees of grant giving bodies.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid background in major gift fundraising to show off and develop their skills by taking this area of fundraising from a relatively low base to something highly significant.
