Electrician – Test & Inspection Engineer (3 Year Fixed Term Contract)

Our client has an in-house Direct Labour Service (DLS) providing a day to day and void repairs service. This service, in addition to our client's homes is provided to over 3200 homes belonging to another housing association.

They currently have vacancies for experienced Electrical Test and Inspection Engineers to join the DLS. The key purpose for these roles is to inspect and test to NICEIC standard the Group’s occupied properties, where required rectifying to a safe standard. In addition you will be required as necessary to undertake maintenance and repair, including breakdown coverage of all electrical equipment for the Group’s properties and partners’ equipment.

Within this role, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, installation and modernisation of electrical systems for buildings, equipment and grounds. You will service and maintain the security and fire alarms, organising further works where necessary. Other duties within this role will include the testing of electrical equipment including that of motors, heaters and controls for safety and efficiency by using the standard test equipment and by observing functions.

The successful candidate will have worked in a similar role previously and will be qualified to City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and have a NICEIC 17th edition (Amendment 3) , as well as having knowledge of Part P of the building regulations. With previous knowledge and experience of a similar role, you will have a strong commitment to high quality customer service and be flexible to provide cover to meet the changing needs of the service.

The successful applicant will also need a full UK driving license and possess a full well maintained tool kit at all times. All post holders will be required to participate in an on-call rota during weekends, evenings and holidays.
