Scotland is sitting on a ticking time bomb of obesity. 65% adults are overweight and 28% are obese. 30% of children are overweight and 17% are at risk of obesity.
And yet, all around us are opportunities to take part in sport which could help us all to live healthier, happier and longer lives. The Observatory for Sport in Scotland (OSS) is a new charity which has been set up to prove that sport has a powerful part to play in combatting this epidemic. OSS’s mission is to challenge the status quo and provide statistical evidence of how sport through each decade of our lives, can be life transforming. The charity will gather all international research into this area and conduct its own to establish the true value of sport for young and old alike and assess how it’s being promoted and financed in Scotland.
Could you be the person to be their new Director and lead the charge?
Are you passionate about the importance of sport to each and every one of us, interested in academic research as a way of influencing and persuading others and utterly committed to combatting Scotland’s appalling health record? Do you have a university degree and strong income generating experience? Are you a natural leader, driven, resourceful, tenacious and resilient as well as a supremely good communicator? If so, then this opportunity could be the most rewarding job you’ve ever had.
