Children's Support Coordinator - Somerset Integrated Domestic Abuse Service
Across Somerset - Yeovil and Taunton
£18,162.38
Permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Our client is looking for a Children's Worker to work out of their Refuges.

They are looking for someone to be a Mary Poppins and provide individual services for children and their parents living in refuges. Ensuring children experience living and playing in a supportive environment free from violence or any form of discrimination. Working collaboratively with colleagues and with external bodies to ensure a timely and comprehensive service is delivered.

Primary areas of responsibility:

Work with clients to safely resolve issues and advise on our clients and their responsibilities
Establish, maintain and administer accurate records electronically and manually
Professionally represent the business at all times
Ensure that you understand the business purpose and how you contribute to achieving it
Establish and maintain professional boundaries
Comply with legislation, contractual requirements and company procedures
Provide child care so that mothers can speak freely about their experiences of abuse and make safety plans without their child being present and to enable them to attend meetings with solicitors, police and other agencies.
Ensure an appropriate package of support is provided to children and their mothers, ensuring sensitivity to cultural needs and to address issues such as discrimination and other barriers to accessing services.
Work closely with SIDAS colleagues to provide practical information and assistance to women about local services for children, such as play schemes, nursery or schools.
Create a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for newly arrived children.
Escalate any service access difficulties, complaints or Child Protection and Safeguarding matters are brought to the immediate attention of SIDAS managers where appropriate
Participate in the weekly call responder function as required
