Project Manager (Young Dads) - Childcare / Family Charity
Young dads are amongst the most socially excluded parenting groups in the UK and this is why the Young Dads Collective (YDC) works to reduce levels of poverty and isolation experienced by young dads aged 25 and under, while developing the skill sets and employability of all the young dads who are members.
Interim Young Dads Collective Project Manager
Location: Southwark, London
Part time, 3 days a week, fixed term up to 1 year (maternity cover)
Initial contract to 30 March 2018
(There may be occasions when the post holder will be asked to work outside office hours)
What is the Young Dads Collective?
The YDC believes that as ‘experts by experience’ young dads are the best people to make change for themselves and their peers. They employ a small team of young fathers, training, mentoring and enabling them to share their knowledge and experiences with practitioners, service providers and policy makers and to influence change in policy and practice. They create a space in which their team can provide the ‘authentic’ voice for young dads, while also offering kinship and personal support to members who, in many cases, would otherwise not have been heard. Through the YDC, members develop their employability skill sets improving the life chances for themselves and their children.
The programme manager will be responsible for delivery of the YDC programme. They will:
- Be responsible for project activities, including writing and delivering training for the young dads, co-developing activities and workshops with the young dads, organising events, writing reports and briefings, working with stakeholders, clients and funders.
- Represent the needs of young dads, the programme and the organisation externally.
- Manage relationships with project partners and funders.
