Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice excels at providing end of life care. As a pioneer and specialist in our field we do this in a range of settings with the majority of care provided in people’s own homes. We have embarked on an ambitious and innovative programme of change and our proactive and professional HR team play a key role in supporting our managers in delivering this strategy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing human resources advice and guidance on a range of issues across the organisation. The client base is broad and includes clinical, retail and fundraising teams. You will enjoy working collaboratively with clinicians and managers to motivate, engage and retain our staff and deliver our strategic goal to be an employer and volunteering centre of choice. You will also have the opportunity to work on an interesting and varied portfolio that covers the full range of human resource management, learning and development and volunteer engagement.

You should have at least 5 years’ experience of providing an HR advisory service which includes evidence of strong employee relations skills, up to date knowledge of employment law and the ability to apply this in practice. Excellent people management skills will also be important and experience of engaging with a large volunteer workforce advantageous.
