They are leading on a £10million investment programme testing innovative youth-led solutions to unemployment and sharing learning for social impact.

Head of Employability

Reporting into the Director of Programmes you will be playing a pivotal role in the organisation, in delivering on the potential of the programme to make a lasting change to policy and practice and make employment support work better for young people. Managing a small team you will and will be responsible for overseeing partnership management for the 20+ organisations that are grant-funded to deliver the programme and ensuring the highest quality delivery against performance targets and values.

Key duties will include:

- Leading the development of new employability programmes, and evaluating the need and opportunity for sustaining the programme beyond the initial funding through social investment and relationships with their corporate partners.
- Developing a clear vision for the organisation's employability work and what can be achieved within the programme of works through partnerships and beyond.
- Overseeing the completion of monthly, quarterly and year end monitoring and reporting in line with programme specifications, and ensuring young people's journeys through the programme are effectively evidenced.
- Developing and strengthening close working relationships with a network of employment services and local and national Government departments.
- Maintaining an understanding of emerging best practice and policy initiatives around youth employment.
- Raising the profile of the organisation through speaking at events, conferences and press activities.
- Active member of the Leadership Team and contributing to the formulation and delivery of strategic development plans.
- Ensuring that the views of young people are considered at all stages of the planning and delivery.


Candidates will need to have a clear understanding and be able to empathise with their values and goals of the organisation, and be passionate and committed to improving the lives of young Londoners. Candidates need to have a passion for youth-led activity and the ability to work successfully in collaboration with a wide range of senior stakeholders. Other essential criteria include:

- A degree or relevant qualification in youth work with substantial experience and understanding of young people.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of supporting young people to make the transition into work.
- Inspire, engage and motivate support to youth programmes and youth networks.
- Substantial experience of programme design, development, monitoring, evaluation and managing substantial budgets.
- Experience of delivering programmes through partnerships including community, youth or voluntary sector organisations.
- Strong track record of working effectively with senior business leaders and other senior stakeholders including policy makers and funders to produce social change.
- The ability to think critically about need and solutions with experience of converting grant-funded activity into sustainable delivery models.
