Deputy Director of Marketing & Communications

Permanent, Full time – 35 hrs per week
We believe that no young person should face cancer alone, no matter where they live in the UK. If we are to reach every young person with cancer by 2020 we need to be powerful advocates, influencers and communicators and our ability to communicate with heart, soul and integrity will be critical to reaching all young people who need us.
The Deputy Director of Marketing & Communications will play a key role in leading the strategic planning, direction and delivery of the marketing and communications strategy for the charity and will lead and manage the Marketing & Communications department, which encompasses PR, Digital, Internal Communications, Design and Brand.
What we want from you..
You’ll need to demonstrate that you are an enthusiastic ambassador for the work of the charity - something that is easily achieved once you’ve seen our work in action – but you also need to be an ambassador for great communication work. You need to be plugged in to trends, patterns and networks and most of all you need to have hands on experience of delivering great engagement and communication and leading teams to do the same.
You must be able to seize the moment, be creative, understand & navigate complex relationships but still get things done. You will offer leadership however you won’t be seeking to build an empire or control everything. We're looking for an experienced leader who has an established track record of leading & delivering marketing and communications strategies in – or for – the charity sector. We need an energetic, experienced manager who is ready to bring their experience, energy and strong professional networks to Teenage Cancer Trust.
We need to build on our recent growth and strong brand so that we can expand our work and make a lasting difference to the lives of young people with cancer, so we’re after someone who is action orientated and thrives on making things happen. You’ll be more motivated by progress and success than extensive thinking at a desk and you’ll be totally aligned to the work and values of Teenage Cancer Trust.
