Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK and numbers are set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. 

Position: Dementia Support Worker x2 (Wakefield and Five Towns) 
Location: Wakefield and Five Towns 
Contract type: Permanent 
Hours: 1 x 28 per week, 1 x 21 per week 
Salary: £15,713 actual per annum 28 hour role, £11,784 actual per annum 21 hour role

About the Role: 
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK and numbers are set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. 

We are looking for three Dementia Support Workers to work across the Wakefield district providing information and support to people living with dementia and their carers. The purpose of the role is to help our service users to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and put them in more control of their lives. The Dementia Support Workers will support people with dementia and their carers to identify their needs and to access services, as well as supporting our services in the Wakefield & Five Towns area which include 4 Forget Me Not Cafes, 2 Singing for the Brain Groups and additional activity groups. 

About You: 
We are looking for individuals with good IT skills, NVQ level 3 or equivalent, good communication skills and have an understanding of dementia. It is desirable that you have experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies. 

The position is subject to a successful DBS Check
