Citizens Advice Witness Service is looking for a Team Leader (Court Services) to join the Surrey and Sussex Witness Service Team. The post is based at Staines Magistrates' Court, Surrey.  The Team Leader is responsible for the delivery of the Witness Service within the court environment, through the effective coordination and development of volunteers who support witnesses in their journey through the criminal justice system.  Our trained volunteers provide practical and emotional support and information to prosecution and defence witnesses in criminal cases.

This role involves developing and maintaining local key stakeholder relationships with a view to enhancing partnership working, maintaining and enhancing service delivery standards and effectiveness.  You will need to be able to contribute to an inventive, responsible and generous organisation and team culture.

Duties include:

  • Deliver an effective customer focused role with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Coordinate and support recruitment of a team of volunteers
  • Work directly with a diverse range of clients or service users
  • Monitor and maintain service delivery against agreed targets, identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Work effectively without direct supervision and prioritising own workload
  • Deal with difficult and / or emotional situations
  • Apply understanding and knowledge of safe working practices.
  • gather, analyse and use information to solve problems
  • Build and develop effective working relationships
  • Communicate sensitively and effectively both verbally and in writing with a wide range of people

Attributes for the role include but are not essential:

  • Understanding of voluntary and statutory agencies including relevant professional roles, particularly in the criminal justice, health and social care sectors
  • Understanding of the criminal justice system and specifically the journey of a witness through the court process
  • Experience of safeguarding issues and legislation.
