Our client and their partner have developed a new approach to providing Advocacy services for people with significant support and communication needs.
Position: Advocate (2 positions available)
Contract type: Permanent
Hours: 12 hours per week
Salary: £21,000 to £25,700 per annum pro rata

About the role:
You will have an opportunity to use all your creativity and imagination because the way you will work, including the days and the times when you will be present at the residential home, will be flexible and adaptable, driven entirely by the wishes, needs and views of the residents themselves.
Because they know that the residents’ lives aren’t lived on a nine to five basis or only on weekdays. the advocacy service will be present on site during the mornings, afternoons or evenings on any day, including at weekends,
The idea behind their new delivery model is that residents will want to see and to speak with their advocate on the days and at the times which work best for them and their advocacy service will respond to this and in doing so, it will be entirely led by residents’ needs.
Many residents face significant barriers to being heard and understood and your highly-developed communication skills will allow you to engage with and to obtain their views, wishes and concerns using a variety of different communication techniques and tools.
Your passion for people will help to ensure that the voices and views of the residents are heard loud and clear by the local management team, their wider regional management team, by statutory bodies and by other organisations and people who are significant in the lives of the residents.
An understanding of Advocacy and experience delivering advocacy services is essential, as is the ability to work professionally, respectfully and collaboratively with others.
Independence from the residential service provider is crucial as is the ability to raise issues with and on behalf of vulnerable people in a way which gets things changed whilst retaining a professional and respectful working relationship with staff working for our client’s partners.
Desirable skills and experience include:
- IAQ; IAQ with specialisms of Care Act.
- Experience of Advocacy.
- Charity and Third Sector experience.
- Knowledge of the Action for Advocacy Code of Practice, Advocacy Code of Practice.
- Ability to manage change and guide people through change.
You may have experience of the following: Advocate, Advocator, Vulnerable Adults, IAQ, Charity, Third Sector, Social Worker, IMCA, DOLS, RPR, Legislation, Policy, Support Worker, Healthcare etc.
