MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines.
MAG’s work has helped more than 16 million people in conflict-affected communities in over 40 countries since 1989, giving them greater safety and the opportunity to rebuild their lives, livelihoods and futures.
We are currently seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees, to oversee the financial matters of the charity as well as being part of a committed governing team ensuring the correct administration of the organisation.
A formal accountancy qualification such as ACCA is a pre-requisite of the role and ideally you would have experience of reporting to a Board of Trustees or experience of being a Board Member. You should also be able to demonstrate a real commitment to and a passion for MAG’s aims, its values and its work. To help shape MAG’s future direction you will be able to think strategically, be creative and articulate and will make use of your general and specialist experience to take legal responsibility for the charity’s resources and ensure that its objectives, plans, budget and policies further its charitable objectives.
MAG seeks to have a Board which is strengthened by gender balance and diversity of all kinds. The Board meets four times a year in Manchester and holds an annual Board Away Day. The Treasurer also chairs meetings of the Audit & Finance Sub-Committee (AFC). Trustees are appointed for up to two terms of three years. Trustees are unpaid and reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
