New Town Partnership are delighted to be managing the search for a CFO on behalf of a leading third sector organisation.  Our client has an excellent reputation within the NGO sphere, with a global footprint in everything it does.  This role will be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

 

The CFO is a senior level appointment reporting to the Chief Executive (with access to the Board) and as such the selected individual will be expected to play a significant role in future growth and strategic direction.  Leading a team in the UK as well as reporting lines in several of the geographic regions, the candidate will have to be an inspirational leader, empowering those they work with and understanding the need for appropriate delegation as required.

 

A broad overview of responsibilities are outlined below:

 

  • Responsible for all aspects of the organisation’s financial reporting, policies and systems

     

    Manage donor reporting and financial compliance on both public and private grant activity

     

    Manage the building of new teams and all recruitment for the financial function.

     

    Lead strategic initiatives that will enhance the organisations cash position

     

    Ensure the proper functioning of the organisation’s financial and account systems and implement changes and new operating procedures as necessary

     

    Oversee all statutory financial reporting to outside regulatory authorities’ and to the Board of Directors

     

    Oversight of tax planning, compliance, cash management, budgeting and financial planning and analysis

     

    Management of all organisational assets including all treasury and investment functions

     

This is a senior appointment and critical for the organisation’s continued success. As such, the calibre will be expected to be high. In order to be considered for this opportunity you will have to demonstrate evidence of the following:

 

  • Substantial charitable sector experience and deep understanding of the complexity of the financial regulations in the sector

     

    Financial exposure out with the UK and experience of working in different regulatory environments such as Europe and Internationally

     

    Degree education with an accountancy qualification

     

    A desire to live or relocate to Scotland is essential (relocation package is negotiable)

A degree of travel will be an essential part of the post.
