Statutory Development Manager

Working within the Development team, this role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Statutory Development Manager with a keen interest in changing lives in East London and supporting people of all ages to be well and to live life to the full.
We are looking for a creative, self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and powerful bid writing skills. The post holder will play a key role in generating revenue from statutory and institutional sources and should be able to demonstrate proven ability to secure 5 and 6 figure funds from these sources.

Its focus is to raise substantial sums to support delivery of a range of services offered by the Bromley by Bow Centre and in particular to support funding of new initiatives and new services.
To work with the Development Director to develop a clear and deliverable strategy for securing funding from local and national statutory funders in line with the Centre’s general objectives and specific programmes. It will play a major role in implementing this strategy by securing funding and by supporting programme managers to secure funding.
Research Statutory Funding Opportunities
To actively research and keep up to date with funding opportunities from statutory funders at a local, national and European level.
To build an approach plan to secure commissioning and contractual income from statutory funding sources locally, nationally and at a European level.
Secure and Manage Statutory Funding
To write high quality funding bids to secure local, national and European statutory grants and/or statutorily funded contracts and commissioned income to deliver key services at the Bromley by Bow Centre.
To manage the processes for statutory funding applications and bids across the Bromley by Bow Centre
To keep accurate details of bids submitted and secured and use these records to analyse trends.
To account manage successful bids, liaising with the external partners, internal monitoring/finance team and delivery directorates, ensuring that all funding objectives are fully met.
To maintain excellent relationships with statutory funders through timely and accurate reporting; appropriate contact via email /telephone and facilitating meetings with senior and project staff.
To work with other local organisations and charities to assist in, and where appropriate lead on, local consortia funding bids to maximise income to the charity.
Support Service Delivery Programme Managers To Secure Statutory Funding
To work alongside service delivery managers to assist them in writing bids for local statutory grants, providing information as and when required and helping to write appropriate sections of the bid where necessary.
To work closely with programme managers and the finance team to help write budgets for projects.
To work alongside service delivery managers to assist them in securing contractual income and income through commissioning.
To develop and maintain excellent relationships with local commissioners and appropriate local statutory funders.
To work alongside programme delivery managers to support timely reporting.
To prepare regular reports, financial and narrative, regarding the status of fundraising and development related activities.
To keep accurate database and printed records of prospects, applications, responses and follow-ups.
To work with project managers to help develop projects, including guidance on deliverables and ensuring projects are in line with funder requirements.
To keep up to date on governmental policies and strategies related to the work of the Centre and social policy generally.
To actively participate in regular 1-1 and yearly appraisal meetings with the Development Director.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Minimum 3 years fundraising experience within statutory fundraising.
Excellent bid planning, development and writing skills with a proven track record of writing successful bids to raise 5 and 6 figure sums from statutory sources.
Experience of coordinating, structuring and delivering complex bids requiring input from multiple sources/individuals.
Experience of managing and maintaining good relationships with funders and of writing clear, informative reports for funders.
A natural networker with the capability to develop good relationships with a broad range of people internally and externally.
Excellent planning, project management and organisational skills.
Strong research skills.
Attention to detail.
Strong team working skills and the ability to work alongside others in a supportive way.
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills; good verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize effectively, to multi-task and to cope well under pressure.
Flexibility, and a willingness to work in innovative and non-traditional ways.
Competency in word, excel and use of the internet.
Passionate about community regeneration in East London.
A proven track record of writing successful bids to raise 5 or 6 figure sums from one other fundraising channel e.g. trusts and foundations, corporates, major donors.
An understanding of commissioning, particularly within a healthcare and/or learning environment.
Knowledge of current policy particularly within the health, learning, employment and enterprise agendas.
Experience of using a fundraising database.
