Play Worker 

An exciting role to work as a play worker for a national charity. 

Our client is a national charity which supports people affected by imprisonment. They provide practical and emotional support to prisoners' children and families, and to prisoners themselves. 

Position: Weekend Play Worker 
Location: HMP Nottingham 
Contract: Permanent 
Hours of work: 15 hours per week 
Salary: £6,435.00 (FTE £16,087.5)

About the role: 

The Relief Play Worker will assist the Children and Family Team Leader in the development of the play area and children’s facilities at HMP Nottingham. The post holder will work amongst a team of Staff and volunteers who contribute to the children’s services work at the prison and to a wider group of Children’s service workers who contribute to the work and development of children’s services in the overall organisation. The Play Worker will provide services both within the visitors’ centre and the prison visits hall. 

About you: 

You will have experience of planning and delivering play to children within a challenging environment; you will also be a good communicator, reliable and enthusiastic. An NVQ level 1 in childcare or equivalent is essential, plus you should have a GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent. You should have at least one years’ experience of play work with children. It essential that you have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and can relate sensitively to the varying needs of the children visiting the Prison. 

Experience of working with children in a challenging environment and of working with families and volunteers is desirable. You must also have the ability to work flexibly, as this role will include regular weekend work.
