Director of Philanthropy
£70,000 to £75,000
Based in London

This is an exciting time to join I CAN.  With the arrival of a new Chairman and new Chief Executive, the charity is going through a period of ambitious change.  I CAN is at a crucial step in its development, and the appointment of a new Director of Philanthropy will enable the charity to move to the next stage by increasing its income to implement innovative and life-changing support to the children and families its serves.  I CAN’s new Three Year Plan will begin in April 2017 and the new Director of Philanthropy will help shape and develop the Plan alongside the Chief Executive and fellow Directors.  I CAN is set to double its reach to children and young people who have speech, language and communication difficulties. This will increase I CAN's ability to influence government and policy makers, ensuring that children’s language and communication skills are seen as a top priority, and that sufficient investment is made to support the hundreds of thousands of children who need our help.

The new Director of Philanthropy will be committed and passionate about I CAN's aims and will significantly improve the charity's performance in raising funds from major donors, businesses, Trusts and Foundations. To support the Director of Philanthropy in this leadership role, I CAN will be simultaneously recruiting four other fundraising positions to compliment the Philanthropy Team: Head of Trusts & Statutory Fundraising, Philanthropy Manager, Corporate Partnerships Manager and Philanthropy Coordinator. The new Director of Philanthropy will be on the selection panel for these fundraising posts.

This is a unique chance for a motivated, strategic, entrepreneurial senior manager with a successful track record in major donor development who will make a significant impact on an organisation whose purpose is to help transform children and young people’s lives.
