Our client is the UK's leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK and numbers are set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. 

Position: Dementia Support Worker 
Location: Telford (role covers Telford and Wrekin) 
Contract type: Fixed Term Contract – until 31 March 2018 
Hours: 21 per week 
Salary: £11,784.60 per annum (actual)

About the Role: 

They are looking for a dynamic new Dementia Support Worker to join an already established Telford Team. 

As a Dementia Support Worker you will provide person centred support, information and guidance to people with dementia or their carers and wider family or friends throughout Telford and Wrekin. This service is provided in a range of settings, including the client’s home and in group settings. Within the role you will work with individuals in a person centred way, enabling their journey by signposting and providing referrals to other services. 

About You: 

You will be educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent, you will have excellent time management and, communication skills. You will have proven facilitation skills as well as being a good listener. You will also have a sound understanding of the value of groups. 

You should have an understanding of working in a person centred way. You should have relevant experience of record keeping and report writing and be confident in the use of IT. Experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies would be an advantage. An understanding of relevant legislation such as the mental capacity act is required and you must be able to travel independently across Telford and Wrekin.  Our client is committed to equal opportunities.
