Macmillan Cancer Support is the UK’s leading cancer care charity, supporting millions of people affected by cancer every year.
As a Major Gifts Officer you will help us make a difference to the lives of the growing number of people affected by cancer across the UK. This role is a key part of the Philanthropy Team at Macmillan.
What we are looking for
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with a good understanding of Major Gifts fundraising, and experience of soliciting income from individuals.
As an integral part of the Philanthropy Team, you will be responsible for a portfolio of Major Donors, ensuring their continued support for Macmillan.
You will also be responsible for seeking new funding from prospective donors and will need to build long term relationships to ensure sustainable income.
Confident and self-motivated, with experience in a similar role, you should have the desire to bring your drive and ambition to Macmillan to help cultivate and steward relationships with High Value Individuals who are capable of making high level gifts.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential together with excellent organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
The Philanthropy Team sit within the Relationship Department so you will have the opportunity to work closely with, and learn from, colleagues across the wider Department.

> Writing strong, compelling, and persuasive funding proposals.
> Qualifying Major Donor prospects.
> Moving donors through the prospect pipeline, from identification to stewardship.
> Building strong relationships with a portfolio of Major Donors.
> Providing support to Major Donors in making peer to peer asks for Macmillan.
> Attending face-to-face meetings and having significant conversations with supporters.
