Director of Marketing – Epsom College

Location: Epsom, Surrey

Salary: c£70,000 + Pension

Epsom College is a co-educational day and boarding school with approximately 800 pupils aged 11-18. The College is located one mile from Epsom town, below Epsom Downs, in fine buildings set in a beautiful tree filled campus of some 80 acres. Originally founded by The Royal Medical Benevolent Foundation, today the College strives to develop the individual talents of every girl and boy. This is an exciting time in the College’s rich history with a new Lower School, the opening of Epsom College in Malaysia three years ago and recent school improvements that have helped to place the College on an exciting trajectory in the UK market.

The College is looking to appoint a full time Director of Marketing who will have overall responsibility for all aspects of marketing and communications at the school. The successful candidate will be a hands-on and experienced professional who will sympathise with Epsom College’s ethos and values.

The Director of Marketing will inspire confidence and trust, operate collaboratively with a diverse group of staff, pupils, parents and prospective parents and immerse him or herself fully in the life of the school. S/he will manage the College’s Press Officer, work closely with the Director of Admissions and teaching and support staff.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of success in strategic marketing and PR, preferably in a comparable organisation. S/he will have the ability to apply sound marketing principles to the College’s environment, taking into consideration the perspective of target audiences and the dynamics of the marketplace.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • In depth experience and understanding of the principles and practices of marketing including PR, media relations, advertising and branding;
  • Experience of strategic planning and delivering against plans;
  • Experience and understanding of digital communications and social media as appropriate for a school;
  • Demonstrable experience of building rapport and interacting with people at all levels, whether volunteers, direct reports or colleagues with competing demands on their time;
  • Experience in event planning and management.

This role is subject to a satisfactory DBS check. Epsom College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment and attend mandatory training.
