Our client is recruiting Nursery Manager to work from their Teddington location in West London. Based in a tranquil suburb near Teddington Lock, with ample parking and excellent access to local amenities, their location is a purpose-built nursery in an airy and well-lit building with a covered garden/play area. Teddington is a 52 place nursery with a focus on serving the needs of the local community and creating a real “home from home”.

ROLE: 

The Nursery Manager is responsible for leading and managing high quality practice in the nursery. You will deliver the operating revenue and cost budget of the nursery on monthly, quarterly and annual basis and manage the day to day operations of the nursery, including outstanding service delivery 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Working in partnership with a fully supportive senior management team with combined experience of over 50 years’ nursery experience, the post holder will ensure Safeguarding procedures are followed at all times. You will drive and deliver the highest standards of care throughout the nursery as detailed in the EYFS, company EY audit and OFSTED inspection schedule. This will involve implementing safe recruitment procedures to ensuring the ongoing safety of children in the nursery, as well as facilitating and contributing to effective interface between Local Authorities, Ofsted and other relevant partners to deliver child-centred, compliant provision. 

You will promote children’s emotional well-being and develop secure attachments, whilst being accountable for high quality child development records. Acting as a positive role model to develop positive relationships between staff, parents / carers you will ensure that legal requirements as set out in EYFS are met at all times and recommendations / actions from inspections are implemented successfully. You will action and monitor all child protection issues, parent issues, complaints and accidents to ensure that remedial action is taken immediately, liaising with the Director of Early Years as appropriate. 

Having accountability for the financial performance of the nursery, involving all aspects of managing the budget, you will work with the commercial team to proactively market the nursery, ensuring positive show rounds for parents. You will also provide line management, induction, appraisal and supervision, to ensure professional support and direction, to a team of Early Years practitioners in the nursery 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: 

You will hold a minimum NVQ Level 3 in childcare, and have previous experience in a similar role. An adult training qualification is desirable, for example a PTTLS, NVQ or Assessor award to facilitate training within the nursery. You will have an in-depth understanding of EYFS and regulatory framework. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic finance skills are also essential. 

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: 

- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for the Children and Young People's Workforce - Early Years (Management) – or willingness to work towards. 
- Level 4 qualification in early years subject 
- A university degree is desirable, as is EYP / EYT. A Safeguarding qualification towards children, staff, parents and other stakeholders would be advantageous.
