Sailors’ Society is a leading provider of maritime welfare; working to meet the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of seafarers and their families, irrespective of religion or ethnicity, in ports all around the world.
Over the last 30 years the demands on seafarers have grown considerably, and the charity has responded to this by continuously revising its’ programmes to meet their needs. As a result, the organization is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, professional and experienced Head of Fundraising with strong leadership skills. This is a new position and will be integral to all future growth and development.
The Society is scanning the horizon for someone who has developed a portfolio of fundraising skills over time, ideally in a national or international charity. They are also looking for someone who can demonstrate considerable experience in individual, mass-market giving and who has gained several years of line-management experience in more than one area of fundraising. This would be a wonderful opportunity for someone looking to broaden their leadership experienced across a wider range of funding streams.
Reporting to the Development Director you will have the opportunity to lead on individual giving with two direct reports. Other direct reports are the Partnerships Development Manager (Corporates and Trusts) and an Events Manager. Overall you will be responsible for a staff complement of nine.
Your overall responsibilities include developing and implementing fundraising plans to achieve voluntary and statutory income goals in support of Sailors’ Society mission. You will also be required to grow income through creative fundraising product development and exemplary donor relations management. As a passionate, motivated and inspirational individual you will provide leadership, management and accountability to staff with responsibilities for fundraising. This includes the performance management within organisational systems, policies and strategic direction.
