Community Engagement Officer (Dementia Action Alliance)   An excellent opportunity to promote a better understanding of dementia.   Our client is the UK's leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK and numbers are set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.
Position: Dementia Action Alliance Coordinator Location: Southampton Contract type: Fixed Term Contract - 12 months Hours: 35 per week Salary: £21,366 per annum (actual)   Closing Date: 29 September 2016 Interview date: TBC
About the Role:   This is an exciting opportunity to help make Southampton a Dementia Friendly City. We are looking for an individual to help facilitate the creation of a Dementia Action Alliance as a vehicle to make Southampton Dementia Friendly. This will involve encouraging alliances through 6 recognised clusters, alongside individual organisations, to produce an action plan and sign up to the National Dementia Declaration.   An important part of this role is to ensure that the alliance and Dementia Friendly communities are sustainable at the end of this 12 months project.   About You:   You will be expected to have a good understanding of Southampton City and the key partners involved and work towards many varied and stretching targets.   A key skill required will be the ability to build relationships with and invite businesses, civic organisations, community organisations, local groups, health and social care providers to join the local alliance and support them in the process.   If you feel you can be part of a successful Team and promote better understanding of Dementia across communities and promote independence for people living with Dementia and work in consultation with people with dementia and their carers then please apply.   Our client is committed to equal opportunities.   You may have experience of the following: Community Engagement Officer, Charity, Third Sector, Dementia, Not For Profit, Social Care, Community Development, Policy, Healthcare, Voluntary Sector, Development Officer, Community Engagement, Membership, Agendas, Support etc.
