Wellingborough is an attractive market town in North Northamptonshire, full of historical character and surrounded by beautiful countryside. 

Position: Governance Officer 
Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire 
Contract type: Permanent 
Hours: 37 hours per week 
Salary: £24,717 per annum (with the potential to earn up to £29,854)

About the role: 

This is an exciting time in Wellingborough, as they are determined to meet financial challenges head-on, by introducing new initiatives with a more business-focused and commercial approach. 

To achieve their ambitions and legal obligations, they are looking for someone with the aptitude to work with their Senior Management team, to support them - not only in an advisory capacity - but also in practical ways. 
You will assist their Monitoring Officer and provide advice to members and officers on their Constitution, as well as play a key role in ensuring that it is up to date and lawful. 

About you: 

Ideally you will be educated to degree level or equivalent, or have relevant experience. You will be capable of understanding complex information and presenting it to members and officers in a well-organised and coherent fashion. Drafting copy for the media and a website, as well as effective use of ICT packages, particularly Outlook and Word, is essential. 

You will have excellent organisational skills and the drive to help deliver both small and larger projects, whilst understanding how to work within the local government political decision-making process. Possessing a democratic services background is essential, as is excellent communication skills and ability to engage with people at all levels. 

You may have experience of the following: Governance Officer, Charity, Charities, Third Sector, Company Secretary, Regulation, Compliance Officer, Legislation, Governance, Assistant Company Secretary, Governance Assistant, Democratic Services, Committee Support etc.
