Wac Arts ( in Belsize Park, London is an independent charity founded in 1978 with a turnover of £1.7 million annually. Its mission is to support gifted young people who face exceptional challenges and hardship, expand their life opportunities and aspirations through arts and media. Since its foundation, Wac Arts has touched the lives of over thirty thousand young people.

We strongly believe that the arts should be a right not a privilege and that learning in the
performing arts can give people invaluable tools for life; it can build confidence, improve self esteem
and empower people to overcome great difficulties. We support young people from 5-25
through outstanding levels of performing arts and media training, with a focus on innovation and
a drive for excellence. We believe every individual has a talent and it’s our job to help them find it
and go on to achieve their potential in life.

Wac Arts has a track record of success over nearly four decades having nurtured and
developed some of the UK’s leading diverse talent including Courtney Pine, Ms Dynamite,
Marianne Jean Baptiste and Sophie Okenedo, and is leading the way in producing the future
generation of diverse talent.

This is a unique time to join Wac Arts with the appointment of a new Chief Executive as
it transitions from being a founder led organisation and moves forward the Board’s work of the
last two and a half years. We are looking for a member of the leadership team to work closely
with the Chief Executive to build a robust and sustainable business model which financially
underpins the inspiring work with young people that has been consistently delivered for almost
four decades.

To deliver the organisation’s potential, including a major capital development within the next 5
years, we are looking for an inspiring Director with a real passion for the work we do, very strong
and demonstrable experience of Finance (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA or similar qualification), operations
and buildings. We are looking for a member of the leadership team who has the track record of
strategic thinking, implementation and change management, an excellent track record of HR/
people management and a positive can do approach to move the organisation forward.
