Church Urban Fund was established by the Church of England as a practical response to unmet need and has been active in local communities for over 30 years. Our vision is to see people and communities all over England flourish and enjoy life in all its fullness. Our success rests on our approach to building trust, empowering local people to have a go at addressing the areas of greatest need in their communities and speaking out against injustice. We are committed to working through relational partnerships which bring about long-term, sustainable change by mobilising local people to be the source of the change they want to see and to use the assets already available in their community.

We have been through a significant period of change and renewal to respond to the shape of welfare changes, moving from a grant making trust to a UK development agency which will ensure our vision to secure healthy and flourishing communities. Following the success of our networking and fundraising, we are increasing the size of our existing works and building new programmes of activity. To support this, the size of the organisation will increase and with it the range and extent of strategic management responsibilities; the role of Deputy Chief Executive has therefore been created to strengthen the organisation, provide strategic leadership and undertake effective networking and fundraising with a particular focus on income generation, profile building and networking.

We are seeking a strong and visionary leader with a broad understanding of social policy as it impacts on local communities, a passion for real change and empathy with our heritage and ongoing relationship with the Church of England. This is an exciting time to join us and to play a pivotal part in delivering our ambitious vision.
