This is an amazing opportunity for an Assistance Dog Trainer to work as part of a charity. 

Our client is an assistance dog charity which transforms the lives of disabled people through partnership with their specially trained assistance dogs. They have a fantastic opportunity for Assistance Dog Trainer to join their advanced dog training team based in Heyshott, West Sussex. 

Position: Advanced Trainer 
Location: Heyshott, West Sussex 
Job type: Full time 
Hours: 37.5 hours a week, 08.30-5pm, Monday-Friday 
Salary: £18,909 per annum

About the role: 

This role will be working directly with the dogs in training. The role consists of providing structured training for young dogs between 14 and 18 months old in order to provide them with the skills and social behaviour required to become assistance dogs. You will also provide training and education for their Partners, teaching them how to work with their dogs. 

About you: 

It is important that you have natural rapport with dogs and the ability to handle dogs, as well as having excellent communication skills. Good administration skills and the ability to keep up to date and accurate records is vital, as is the ability to problem solve and work well under pressure. 

There are occasional overnight duties and weekend work, plus a full driving license is also essential. 

It is also essential that you have commitment to excellence and an ability to demonstrate a passion for your work. Ideally you will have experience training dogs using positive reward-based methods and an understanding of disabilities along with enthusiasm, positive attitude, flexibility and initiative.
