Non-Executive Director – One Ark

One Ark is an investment charity that is changing the landscape of social investment. Acting as a catalyst for social transformation, their pioneering work promotes fair opportunity and links investors with high impact community projects, creating social value and breathing life into urban areas. One Ark creates and implements employability and skills services, health and wellbeing initiatives, environmental solutions and digital and financial inclusion initiatives. These programmes help regenerate communities, creating a vibrant, sustainable economy. One Ark has recently secured its first social investment fund of £4m that will be disbursed over a two year period covering the North West of England with an aim of supporting voluntary, charity and social enterprise organisations to scale up and grow, or to become more sustainable. A basket of funds will then be developed over the coming years to enable the growth of a strong social economy across the North West.

One Ark is part of the First Ark Group, which has a unique perspective on how social businesses can create genuine economic change.  First Ark’s business model consists of five companies all working together to create success, generating life changing opportunities and delivering a tangible and sustainable impact on the lives of people who live and work in their communities.

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational NED to contribute to One Ark’s growth through helping to deliver innovative ways of generating investment. You will work closely with a broad range of stakeholders to further develop One Ark’s vision for growth, providing the strategic guidance to deliver social change and community regeneration. The aim is to increase regional and national reach and be the springboard for change within these new regions.  Recognising the opportunity for extensive social impact, you will be a key partner to a broad range of influential stakeholder groups and be pivotal in accessing additional funding sources to enable growth.

With a passion for helping communities realise their potential, you will be seeking a role where you can utilise your influencing skills and contribute to the Group’s long term aspirations. Your fresh perspectives will enable One Ark to increase their impact and you will either be familiar with adding value to a progressive third sector organisation or bring experience of strategic fund management. Highly credible and persuasive, with significant strategic leadership experience, you will have excellent stakeholder management skills along with extensive knowledge of enabling growth.
