St Edmund’s is an exceptional college at the world-class University of Cambridge. Founded in 1896, the College comprises of 60 Fellows and a student body of 500, most of whom are studying for postgraduate degrees. There are over 80 nationalities represented amongst its current students and the College is known for its friendly, informal and international atmosphere where undergraduates, graduates and Fellows mix freely. 

The history of the College in recent decades has been one of expansion and progress, and St Edmund’s is now recognised as one of the most entrepreneurial and forward-thinking colleges in Cambridge. The Fellowship has a clear vision for the future of the College and is looking for an exceptional individual to help deliver that vision.

As the College’s first full-time Development Director, the successful applicant will be responsible for the development and implementation of an integrated fundraising programme to support the College’s ambitions as well as enhancing its relationships with its relatively young and international alumni base. S/he will work closely with the College’s Master and Bursar and will have overall responsibility for the Development Office. As a Fellow and member of the senior management team, the Development Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of St Edmund’s College.

This is an exciting and hands-on post which would suit an achievement-driven individual with the gravitas and intellect required to operate effectively at a senior level. Essential prerequisites include a track record of establishing and achieving fundraising targets through securing major gifts; the ability to understand and clearly articulate the aims and needs of the College; experience of initiating and building productive relationships; strong leadership skills inspiring confidence; excellent negotiating and influencing skills; strong organisational skills; and an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the fellowship, staff, students, alumni and others.
