There are over 165,000 charities in the UK with a total overall annual income of over £70bn, and 62,000 social enterprises turning over £24bn per year. ACEVO is the national body for leaders of these not for profit organisations, and this role is an opportunity to be the leading voice and proponent of the UK’s charity and social enterprise sector, and have an impact on millions of beneficiaries.
Formed over 30 years ago by a handful of charity chief executives, we now boast a membership of 1,400 and help shape major national debates, from reform of the health service to efforts to tackle youth unemployment. We have provided support, development, and an inspiring, collective campaigning voice for our members, the leaders of small, community-based groups, ambitious medium-sized organisations, and well-known, well-loved national and international not for profits.
We have an ambitious strategy, the result of a national consultation and a year-long survey programme, that will help ACEVO help our members to lead the charge for their beneficiaries, their organisations, and for society. Having listened to our members and the needs of the sector as a whole, this strategy sets to work on refining and expanding our Annual Policy Assembly, Charities Excellence Hub, and ACEVO Solutions, as well as forming and developing a Leadership Development Institute.
To be successful in this role, you will be a superb communicator and a passionate advocate, with significant experience in the voluntary and community sector. You will be intellectually robust with a strong grasp of policy and how to engage and influence a wide range of opinion-formers. You will have a track record of success in a senior leadership role and be an excellent manager of people. You will have significant partnership-building skills with the ability to establish and maintain productive collaborative relationships with our members, and you will have strong financial and commercial acumen.
If you feel you have the skill set and passion to help transform us, our sector and society, please do apply.
