Prisoners Abroad is the only organisation caring for British citizens in prison overseas and on return and for their families in the UK, since 1978.
At any one time there are more than 2,000 British citizens in prison overseas, in conditions ranging from the reasonable to the truly terrible and completely unacceptable - we believe that these conditions should not have to be endured and our aim is to create a world where no one is subject to inhumane or degrading treatment whilst in prison.
We make grants to prisoners in countries like Thailand or Vietnam who have to buy everything they need to survive. We fund vitamin supplements and emergency medical treatments. We provide emotional and practical support to prisoners and assist families to cope with the enormous stresses of having a loved one incarcerated in a foreign country.
All our services are available to any British citizen who has been imprisoned overseas; we are non-judgemental and provide assistance based on need.
We have a highly successful and well respected fundraising and communications function supported by a strong base of committed and loyal donors of all kinds. Our highly dedicated and enthusiastic staff create a dynamic working environment. Our income has been steadily growing and has now reached £1.8m.
We are looking for an inspiring leader with a strong commitment to our mission to grow our fundraising to support our ambitious strategic goals. We are seeking an exceptional fundraiser with the tenacity, drive and ambition to ensure we continue to be successful. A track record of achievement and experience across a range of fundraising areas including major donors, corporates, trusts and individual giving is required.
Managing a team of six people, the successful candidate may already be a Director or Head of Fundraising in another charity or this might be the first Director level role for a high flyer experienced fundraiser. We are also open to people with experience outside fundraising with exceptional transferable skills.
