School Governors’ One-Stop Shop (SGOSS) is a national charity set up in 1999 through a grant from the Department for Education. Our vision is for every school in England to have a skilled and effective governing body driving school improvement. We have an independent board of trustees and we recruit volunteers with transferable skills to become school governors.
Around 300,000 school governors form one of the largest groups of volunteers in England; at any one time, around 30,000 governor positions are vacant. Every one of these vacancies is an opportunity for schools to benefit from the transferable business and management skills of the people we place.
The board is looking to recruit a new Chief Executive. This role will provide leadership to the organisation, focusing on external profile, building partnerships and business development. This will require an individual with a strong commitment to our ethos, a sound understanding of working across the public and private sectors and who can build lasting and effective relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
